Subject: Must See
This was enthralling from beginning to end and just when it couldn't get any better the man became all together something different. I will definitely watch this again.

Am I the only one who noticed the misspelled words in the opening credits? "from an ORIGNAL story" and the "Director of PHTOGRAPHY" I only wish Japanese cinema of this era had discovered the dubious talent of Arch Hall, Jr. and his director dad!

Mad scientist! Two-headed monster! Luscious lab assistant! Devoted baritone wife! Unisex geothermal hot baths! Hypodermics! Hari-kiri knives! Outrageous caged former-sweetheart mutant! Erupting volcano! The strangest thing about this strange movie is it's actually very well written (well, except for some of the pseudo-scientific babble). And Terri Zimmern, the Eurasian lab assistant, is devastatingly gorgeous.
"The evil part broke through, took hold! Have faith, Linda, faith in Larry, and in all mankind!"

Undeniably so bad its good, this Japanese- American co-production I had first seen as a kid and was glad to see it as an adult and still be stunned by it.

Bad acting, bad dialog, third eyes, monsters, a very surreal set at the end- what's not to like?

Nice to see a good monster movie made in Japan that doesn't involve weird, giant, lizard-like creatures. Peter Dyneley reminds me of no one more than Lon Chaney in his looks and his acting. Further, this movie, like The Wolf Man, represents a metaphor for drug addiction. While Larry Talbot was remorseful for his acts, and sought help until death, Larry Stanford revels in his disease until cured, and will be judged for his acts. Sure, this doesn't have the production values of The Wolf Man, and the supporting cast isn't as good, but the director keeps it interesting with location shots around Japan.

I downloaded the 642MB "MPEG4" file, which is actually a DivX file. Video quality is adequate; the audio is fine.
